Featuring: "Faithbook of God: 366 Daily Devotionals" by Renee Fisher

Have you ever been fortunate enough to have someone come into your life like a whirlwind?

I can remember the very first time I got the opportunity to sit and chat with Renee. We met at a church cafe in Vista, California. Yes, her warm smile and hug is infectious - but it's her desire for raw honesty and a deep sense of God's calling on her life, that's pretty rare.

Passionate and full of energy, I walked away from our first chit-chat, inspired and encouraged.
If you know Renee personally, you already know that she is oftentimes the first to offer prayer, encouragement, feedback, instruction, and help through life's ups and downs. I think that's why I have enjoyed "Faithbook of God" so much. It is just-so-her.

I can hear her voice, her sense of hope, her desire for you to lean in closer to Jesus, as she takes Scripture and personal stories to inspire and encourage. Just like that day in California, at a church cafe, talking about God and life over coffee and water. It's just what she does so very well.

Here's an excerpt from her devotional, used with her permission, from "Faithbook of God."

Because You're Worth It

Your faith - of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire - may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
- 1 Peter 1:7

It's the weirdest thing, showing someone his or her worth. Just as gold is refined in fire (yes, fire!), so are we. The best example of fire in the Bible, which shows three men actually being put into a fire, is from Daniel:

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up." (3:16-18)

Maybe God is allowing you to walk through the fire to prove his love and how much he truly values your life. Don't be scared; you're worth it. Sometimes we all need a good refining moment to show us that we're worth it. Do you know your worth?

Megan said she struggles from "poor self-image, because when I was growing up, my father told me that I was worthless. This has always stuck with me, and I believe it has made a huge impact on how I see myself."

Dear God,
Thank you for loving us enough to show us our worth. Help us realize today that these trials we go through are meant to refine us to be pure gold. Thank you for taking the time to make us into something beautiful. We love you. Amen.

Question: do you have a unique way of showing someone his or her worth?

"Maybe God is allowing you to walk through the fire to prove his love and how much he truly values your life."

Wow.

It is a real blessing to have friends who encourage you to, as you say, "lean in closer to Jesus." Renee sounds amazing, and if I have the opportunity I will definitely check out her book.

Thanks for sharing
